The woven shoes are usually worn in a funeral ceremony. The small board represents a memorial to Ellie's dad. The writing on the board is the name of a Japanese monastery.
The twin rockets symbolizes the twin towers that were destroyed on 9/11.
This is Chinese Buddhism symbol for emptiness. It takes great skill and awareness to create a perfect circle in one stroke of the brush.
This symbolizes the lone trade center after the twin towers were brought down. The two blue signs flanking the monument represents twin towers.
